About Us

BLKCEO Journal is a groundbreaking publication and a subsidiary of Sean James and Associates, LLC, founded in 2024. Dedicated to elevating the voices of Black business leaders, the journal represents the emerging face of the global Black CEO. Through powerful storytelling, insightful analysis, and practical guidance, BLKCEO Journal is committed to showcasing the innovation, leadership, and resilience of diverse founders and entrepreneurs. As a platform, it not only celebrates achievements but also empowers the next generation of Black business leaders to redefine success on their own terms.

 

Editorial Independence 

The BLKCEO Journal maintains full authority over editorial content to protect journalistic and business interests. We ensure a clear separation between news coverage decisions and revenue sources. Accepting financial support does not imply endorsement of donors or their products, services, or viewpoints. While we welcome contributions, grants, and sponsorships to support our work, our editorial decisions remain independent and unaltered by donor support. We may accept paid sponsored content from advertisers for specific subjects, but we maintain editorial control over such coverage. The BLKCEO Journal retains the right to review, change, or modify editorial content, and does not permit unauthorized distribution of such material. When applicable, we disclose our donors and stakeholders in an editor’s note or within the report.

 

Ethical Standards

 

  • Integrity and Honesty - Ensure that all content and communications are truthful, accurate, and free from misleading information. Verify facts and sources before publishing or sharing. Disclose any potential conflicts of interest and provide clear and honest information about affiliations, sponsorships, or partnerships. Avoid plagiarism by attributing sources appropriately and creating original content. Properly cite any borrowed material or ideas.

  • Respect and Inclusivity - Promote and respect diversity in all forms, including race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, religion, and disability. Avoid language or content that could be perceived as discriminatory or biased. Respect the privacy of individuals and organizations. Do not share personal or confidential information without explicit consent. Maintain a respectful tone in all interactions. Avoid derogatory language, personal attacks, or any behavior that could be deemed unprofessional.

  • Conflict of Interest - Clearly disclose any potential conflicts of interest in content and interactions. Avoid engaging in activities that could be perceived as compromising the impartiality or integrity of the organization. Refrain from participating in or endorsing activities that conflict with the ethical standards of the BLKCEO Journal.

  • Social Media and Public Communication - Represent the BLKCEO Journal in a professional manner on all social media platforms and public forums. Maintain consistency with the organization's values and ethical standards. Use social media and public communication channels responsibly. Avoid posting content that could harm the organization's reputation or violate privacy and intellectual property rights.

  • Reporting Violations - Violations of this policy should be reported to the appropriate internal authority. Disciplinary actions will be taken for breaches, which may include warnings, retraining, or termination of contracts.

 

Mission Alignment

All content must align with the BLKCEO Journal’s mission to uplift, educate, and inspire the next generation of Black business leaders. Articles should reflect themes of empowerment, leadership, innovation, and community.

 

Target Audience

Our primary audience includes Black entrepreneurs, executives, and professionals. Content should be relevant, insightful, and actionable, catering to individuals aged 25-45 who are interested in business, culture, lifestyle, and economic empowerment.

 

Content Categories

Contributors can submit content under the following categories:

  • Culture Journal

  • Finance Journal

  • Lifestyle Journal

  • Travel Journal

  • Luxury Journal (Goods and Experiences)

  • Faith Journal

  • Economics Journal

 

Each submission should align with the designated journal category, focusing on relevant topics such as cultural trends, financial advice, lifestyle enhancements, luxury experiences, faith-based leadership, or economic insights.

 

Article Types

  1. Features:  In-depth analysis, profiles, or narratives (1,500-2,500 words)

  2. Opinion/Editorial: Persuasive essays or thought leadership pieces (800-1,200 words)

  3. How-To Guides: Practical advice or step-by-step processes (1,000-1,500 words)

  4. Interviews: Q&A format with industry leaders or entrepreneurs (1,000-2,000 words)

  5. Listicles: Curated lists with brief descriptions (800-1,200 words).

 

Writing Style

  • Tone: Professional, yet conversational and accessible. Content should be inclusive, motivational, and empowering.

  • Voice: Authentic and authoritative. We encourage a strong, clear, and relatable voice that resonates with our readers.

  • Clarity: Write in a straightforward manner. Avoid jargon unless it's industry-specific and necessary for the content.

  • Grammar and Punctuation: All submissions must adhere to standard English grammar rules. Articles should be proofread for errors before submission.

 

Originality and Citations

All submissions must be original and unpublished. Plagiarism is strictly prohibited. When referencing data, quotes, or studies, provide proper attribution. Use hyperlinks for online sources and standard citation formats for others.

 

Formatting

Headings: Use clear and concise headings to break up content.

Subheadings:  Include subheadings where necessary to enhance readability.

Paragraphs:  Keep paragraphs short (3-4 sentences) to maintain reader engagement.

Lists: Use bullet points or numbered lists to organize information clearly.

 

Submission Process

  1. Contributors should pitch their ideas before writing the full article. Include a brief summary of the topic, the intended angle, and the category it fits under via the contributor application. 

  2. Adhere to the agreed-upon deadlines. Late submissions may not be considered for publication.

  3. Submit articles in a Word document or Google Docs format. Include your name, a brief bio, and any relevant links.

 

Review and Revisions

All submissions will be reviewed by our editorial team. We reserve the right to make edits for clarity, style, and length.

Contributors may be asked to make revisions before final approval. Prompt responses to revision requests are expected.

 

Compensation

Compensation, if applicable, will be discussed and agreed upon during the pitch acceptance process. Terms may vary depending on the length and type of article. If compensation has been agreed upon, contributors should submit an invoice upon publication. Payment, if applicable, will be processed within a net 45, 90 days of receiving the invoice.

 

Rights and Distribution

BLKCEO Journal retains exclusive rights to all content published. Contributors may not republish their articles elsewhere without permission. Published content will be promoted across our digital platforms, including our website, social media channels, and newsletters.
